Abstract

Literature never stays still. It shifts with whatever tools people grab to tell stories. Think about it: oral tales relied on sharp memory and a circle of listeners. Manuscripts? Slow, careful copying by hand. The printing press flung books wide open. And now? Phones and endless social feeds let stories zip across the world in seconds. Over the last decade or so, Instagram, TikTok, and X have become buzzing hubs for something fresh—short-form digital literature. We're talking quick poems that fit one screen, micro-stories in a single post, threads that build day by day, or spoken-word videos with music, gestures, and raw emotion. These pieces match how most of us actually read these days: a fast scroll during chai break, on the metro, or while waiting in line. Not those long, quiet evenings with a thick novel.
